World War One was a war of was many first. It a rough til rome for the U.S soldiers and the German soldiers. The soldiers have suffered in war but they still continued fighting. Many soldiers got killed and wounded but they never gave up fighting for their country. The soldiers wanted to be free of war so they fought until the opposite team was destroyed. There were many types of defense such as, weapons, communications, and also there were trenches. There were many weapons used during WW1. One weapon that was used during WW1 was flamethrowers. Flamethrowers spreads fire by launching burning fuel. U-Boats were also used during the war and it launched torpedoes against allied ships. Another weapon that was used in the war were machine guns. The machine guns could fire up to 400 to 600 rounds per minute. The machine gun had the firepower of 80 guns!! In 1918 machine guns began to be mounted on tanks and airplanes. Also, zeppelins was another weapon that was used in the war and it was 12 tons and contained over 400,000 cubic feet of hydrogen. The zeppelins was an airship used in the early part of the war in bombing raids by the Germans. (Soure# 1 In WW1 there was a warfare called the Trench Warfare. Trench warfare was fighting from a network or fortification at or below the ground level. Trench warfare involved many types of trenches such as, firing trenches. Firing trenches were when troops fired weapons at enemy’s they were backed up by trenches which provided a second line of defense. Supplies and fresh troops were transported to the front via and that was a network of the reserve communication trenches. There were lice in the trenches and it was a never ending problem. It was in the mens clothes and caused them to itch.There had been black and brown rats and they had infections and they would scamper across the soldiers faces in the dark. In the war there were many types of communications used. In WW1 they used contact patrols. It was an aircraft that was used to carry messages between headquarters and forward positions. Also radios were used and telegraphs was also used during WW1. But radios were to heavy and the phone lines laid had been quickly broken. Also, runners, flashing lights and mirrors had been used instead. Dogs were used as well. The troops would adopt dogs the dogs as pets and the men would volunteer to go as the runners in the dog places. These were some types of communication used in WW1. (Source #4)
WW1 soldiers had a difficult time during the war. They did not have all the great technology and communications we have today. Some of their weapons were not great as ours today. The soldiers did not have wireless phones or wireless radios. The soldiers struggled with the only things they had. They had all types of new diseases from rats and lice. Their lives would of been much easier if they had the things we had today.
